Korean grammar '안/-지 않다.'

1. Explanation

 : '안/-지 않다.' makes a negative sentence. You can add '안' in front of a verb or adjective. And there is a space between '안' and the verb or adjective. However, you can conjugate '-지 않다' with a verb stem or adjective stem. Additionally, '않다' can be changed to '않아요' by using the ending particle '-아요.' One more thing, you should be careful when you see 'Noun + 하다' form. In this case, you can add '안-' between 'Noun' and 'predicate', like 'Noun + 안 + 하다.', 'Noun + 안 + 나다.'

   1-1) Add '안' in front of a verb '가요.'

   1-2) 안 가요.

   2-3) 가지 않아요.

 

 떡볶이가 안 매워요. (The tteokbokki isn't spicy.)
